Tim Russert and Lessons We Learn

posted Thursday, 19 June 2008

The death of Tim Russert, the NBC Host of Meet the Press, has caused the nation to take pause and think about the fragility of life.  This is a man his doctors say was doing everything right. Money was no object for him to spend on his health care.  The accolades for this man are well deserved because he had a positive yet discriminating energy he projected to everyone.  I liked him because he was able to reach out to so many people with diverse points of view. (This is a lesson for all of us)

The point of my blog today is that we do not know when it will be our time to pass away but we have to fight like hell to keep going. The news says 850 people per day die of a sudden heart attack the way Mr. Russert died.  They say it is just one of those things?  I question this because I do not believe the truth is out.  Tim Russert looked over weight on television and in the time just before his death he looked disheveled.  I am not a doctor but I do not think he was getting the best advice. We trust our doctors but we have to learn they are not 100%.  They only practice medicine.

I believe his doctors are covering themselves and not admitting their mistakes.  Vice President Dick Cheney has very well known heart problems and seems to be living comfortably.  Tim Russert had nothing compared to Mr. Cheney from anything we had heard. Or did he?

I am skeptical of what the public is being told about Mr. Russert and believe there were signs about his health that were missed.  Doctors do the best they can but when they miss it they should admit it.  This should be a learning experience for all of us to pay attention to what is going on with our bodies and not take anything for granted.  The doctors may be right and there may not have been anything different they could have done.  We have to question and push for answers about our health.

The country has lost a good man. Tim Russert lived his life to the fullest and had a better life than most of us.  My final thoughts about him are to be thankful he was in my life through television and for him to rest in peace. Thank you Tim.
